Last year, the purchase of apps across a variety of platforms generated more than $26 billion in gross revenue. Young entrepreneurs looking to start their own business without a mountain of startup capital can easily enter into this industry and immediately make a name for themselves. If you want to be a player in this marketplace, though, you have to know how to write the code to build the apps. This is where we come in! If you have always wanted to create an app, but didn't know where to start, this course is for you. In this course, you will design and build Android apps using MIT App Inventor 2. You’ll learn the key design principles and functions of the platform and walk away with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of App Inventor 2. About Xploration

At Xploration for Middle School Students, you can pick from 40 class offerings in the arts, science, sports, and academics. Pick one class for the morning and one class for the afternoon. You’ll pick two new classes for each week of your stay with us. There is no limit to what you can accomplish, plenty of space for imagination, and no right or wrong way to experience JKCP, the canvas is yours. We recommend doing something you already love for one of your classes and trying something completely new for the other! Summer at JKCP is the perfect time to explore a brand new interest!

Our Faculty

The instructors at JKCP are what set us apart from other summer programs. Professional chefs, touring tennis professionals, and award winning photographers; we select our instructors for both their expertise and their love for what they do best. This passion makes each class engaging, fun, and really different than your typical high school class.

Alan Nochenson

Alan Nochenson went to Carnegie Mellon and Penn State, where he received a BS and MS in Information Sciences and Technology. While there, he worked for Amazon.com and Zynga (maker of popular games including Farmville and Words With Friends) as a Software Development Engineer and Computer Security Engineer. He has a number of published academic papers in leading security and technology conferences and journals. This is Alan’s first summer with JKCP, and he is excited about sharing his passion for programming and experience at real companies with the students.

The instructors tailor the curriculum to the needs and interests of the students that week. So whether you are a beginner or expert, coming for one week or six, our classes always ensure there is something new for you to learn.
