The lottery is said to be a tax on people that are bad at math. In recent years, over 40 million tourists have been visiting Las Vegas annually. What draws them to the games? In this class, you’ll learn all about the roles probability, odds, chance and statistics play in casino games such as roulette, blackjack, and poker. Other topics you’ll explore include independent and dependent events, expected value and the combin function. With a focus on mathematics, this course is sure to keep your brain active. If you enjoy playing games and want to increase the probability that you’ll win, this course is for you!

About Enrichment

At Enrichment for High School Students, you can pick from over 40 class offerings in the arts, science, sports, and academics. Pick one class for the morning and one class for the afternoon. You’ll pick two new classes for each week of your stay with us. There is no limit to what you can accomplish, plenty of space for imagination, and no right or wrong way to experience JKCP, the canvas is yours. We recommend doing something you already love for one of your classes and trying something completely new for the other! Summer at JKCP is the perfect time to explore a brand new interest!

Our Faculty

The instructors at JKCP are what set us apart from other pre-college programs. Professional chefs, touring tennis professionals, and award winning photographers; we select our instructors for both their expertise and their love for what they do best. This passion makes each class engaging, fun, and really different than your typical high school class.

Lisa Chen

Lisa Chen is returning to JKCP for her 2^nd summer as a Math Instructor. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mathematics from St. Joseph’s University. While at St. Joseph’s, Lisa ran track and field and distinguished herself as both a scholar and athlete. During the school year, Lisa teaches a variety of different Math courses in Philadelphia, PA.

We make sure you are in an engaged, dynamic and hands-on environment where you are guaranteed to learn in a fun and interactive way. Forget about the stresses of tests, homework and grades; we believe classes should be engaging and exciting. It is summer after all!

Our professional instructors are selected based on their passion for the subject matter and their experience working with high school students. The instructors tailor the curriculum to the needs and interests of the students that week. So whether you are a beginner or expert, coming for one week or six, our classes always ensure there is something new for you to learn.
