Penn Engineering Summer Academy in Applied Science & Technology (SAAST)

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania invites highly motivated and talented high school students to apply to participate in our three-week Summer Academy in Applied Science and Technology (SAAST).

Take Your Skills to the Next Level

Our five rigorous, intensive SAAST courses give high school students an advance look at the learning experience they can expect in college. SAAST gives students the chance to take their interest in science and math to the next level and apply it to cutting-edge technology.

Combining sophisticated theory with hands-on work in our world-class laboratories and culminating in independent projects, SAAST challenges students to work harder, smarter, and more creatively than they ever have before.

Earn College Credit

Every SAAST course carries college credit from Penn, and includes exciting site visits to industry and government, enabling students to see technology at work in the real world.

Experience Penn Campus Life and Activities

  • Stay in dormitories and eat in dining halls on Penn’s Campus in University City.
  • Explore Penn and Philadelphia through various planned excursions throughout the city.
  • Enjoy evening and weekend activities including recreational and cultural trips designed to provide a truly East Coast and Ivy League experience.
  • Learn from and interact with current Penn undergraduates who serve as Residential Assistants (RTAs) and live with students on campus to serve as a resource for academic and co-curricular activities.
