Villanova University - Residential Program

Villanova University invites high school students to apply to the Superior High School Student Program and take undergraduate Villanova summer courses. These four-week courses are ideal for rising juniors and seniors who strive for success and are beginning to think about college. Classes are offered in a variety of disciplines giving you a taste of college life. Plus, you will receive official academic credit from the university. It's an excellent first step toward college!

There are limited spaces available in each class, and applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis.

The choice is yours! Apply to one college credit course at Villanova University for the morning or afternoon. In addition, choose one Julian Krinsky Enrichment course.

College-Credit Summer Courses

High School students apply through an admission process and, if accepted, choose one for-credit Villanova course and one non-credit Enrichment course. Spend half your day with undergraduate students in courses taught by Villanova University faculty. Courses Include:

There are over 40 Enrichment classes to choose from in subjects not typically taught in high school. You can take another academic class such as business, engineering, or foreign languages. Pre-College Experience

Villanova University

As a college credit summer program student, you get to experience life at Villanova. From meeting your new roommate, walking to class on the beautiful campus, eating in the dining halls, and taking classes in the historical buildings, you’ll get a taste of what life as a college student is really like. You’ll love the modern facilities, classrooms, WiFi and state-of-the-art athletic spaces.

Dorm Life

The dorms are the hub of the Krinsky community. You’ll live in a recently renovated, air-conditioned dormitory. Centrally located, it’s within steps of the dining center, bookstore, coffee shops, movie theater and classrooms. Most of the rooms are spacious doubles and complete with beds, desks, chairs and dressers. Each wing of the dorm has bathrooms you’ll share with your dorm mates. Plus, spacious lounges in the dorms are a great place to hang out with friends.

Residential Advisors

You’ll also have a team of residential advisors who live in the dorm on the same floor as you. Residential advisors are responsible for helping you make friends, dorm life, entertainment, evening activities and weekend trips.

Meals

On Campus Meals

You’ll eat breakfast, lunch, and most dinners during the week at the campus dining center. On the weekends, breakfast on Saturday and brunch and dinner on Sunday are served on campus. The food at camp is typical of a college cafeteria. You are given the freedom to make your own choices. Salad, fruit, vegetables, sandwich deli bar and different hot entrees accompany each lunch and dinner.

Off Campus Meals

We also understand you might like to eat out, which is why we have built in one evening per week to eat off campus at a restaurant. You will also dine off campus while on your weekend trips. Maybe you want to take the time to sit down with friends at the beach or grab a quick bite on your way to the next site in NYC. Off campus meals are at your expense.

Dietary Needs

The food is typical of a college cafeteria, and you are given the freedom to make your own choices. There are always multiple options available for each meal including vegetarian choices. If you have special dietary needs or allergies, please contact us prior to your arrival.

Medical

If you don’t feel well, just let your residential advisor know and we’ll help you get better in no time. Chances are you won’t need it, but we have a nurse and doctor on-call and are minutes from the region’s top hospitals. As long as you keep taking any medicine you normally do at home, eat right and get some sleep, you should have nothing to worry about.

Safety

Safety on and off campus is always our number one priority. At the College Credit program, we understand as high school aged students you generally want a little more freedom. We have found a residential advisor to student ratio of approximately 1:10 is the perfect balance of freedom coupled with safe supervision. You’re always required to stay in groups of three or more and required to check-in at regular intervals during any off campus trips or activities.

The Philadelphia International Airport is about 20 minutes from campus.
There are nearly 600 daily arrivals from 120 cities, including 36 international destinations.
The Amtrak train also goes right to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station.

Residential Tuition Explained

3 or 4 College credits from Villanova University - your tuition price is reflective of the number of credits

A deposit of $375 is due within seven days of registration if applying before May 1. After May 1, the total balance is due immediately upon registration. The deposit will be returned if you are not accepted into the program.

Tuition Does Not Include:

Non-refundable Application Fee: $95
International Student Package: $315 (Saturday arrival, linens, laundry service and round trip transportation to PHL Airport or 30th Street Station)

Payment Options

We require an application fee at the time of application to secure your spot in the program. Your balance may be paid via cash, check, wire transfer or credit card. All payments paid by credit card will have an additional fee. Charges will appear on your credit card statement as “JKST, Inc.”.

Financial Aid

You may request a scholarship by completing our financial aid application form. If approved, any adjustments are normally made in the form of partial tuition reduction, which is typically no more than 5-25% off the tuition price. We also recommend looking into community and non-profit foundation scholarship funds. There are many foundations that support summer program tuition.

There really is no “typical” day at Villanova's College Credit Courses.

However, it is a question we are asked often. So, we outlined a sample schedule for you. You will take your college credit class at it's scheduled time. During the other class period you will take one of our Enrichment courses.

Trips are offered every Saturday to regional destinations of your choice. We leave campus after breakfast on air-conditioned motor coaches and return after dinner that evening. Remember to bring some spending money for off campus meals and any souvenirs you might want to buy!

Start a little later on Sundays. You can sleep in and enjoy a great brunch on campus. Then, pick from a variety of trip options in the local Philadelphia area or use these days as an opportunity to visit Ivy League Universities.

FAQ's

How many classes do I take per week?: You will take your class credit course along with one Enrichment class.
How do I get to my classes?: You will walk to your classes and anywhere on campus in a group and with a counselor or teacher. The only exception is an off campus class in which you will take a bus to the location. You will travel in groups and are always accompanied by a counselor.
What are the qualifications of your teachers?: College credit classes are taught by Villanova faculty. Enrichment classes are taught by experts in their field. No matter what subject, they deliver knowledgable instruction that is fun, engaging, and helps students learn.
How do I choose my classes?: Review the class schedule ahead of time with your parents. Make sure they are classes you are both happy with. You may also schedule a consult with our academic director at 610.265.9401 x56.
Will I go off campus for classes?: Sometimes we go off campus for classes or field trips. If so, you will be traveling on JKCP buses, JKCP vans or by a professional transportation company.

What is it like to live at Villanova University?: It is a beautiful, suburban college. You'll live in a shared dorm with one or two other students and on a hall with about 30 students of the same gender. There are common areas where you can hang out with friends, play games, call home, or just relax.
What are the dorms like?: The dorms are typical of college housing. They are air-conditioned and furnished with a bed, dresser, and a desk. The bathrooms are shared with other students on your floor.
Are linens and bedding provided?: Bring your own, or for $65 JKCP will provide a fitted and flat sheet, bath towel, a pillow, pillowcase and blanket. Select this option when completing your pre-summer forms. Linen is included as part of the international student package.
What else is available to me while living in the dorms?: A snack shop is located in the dormitories where you can purchase beverages, candy and snacks and hang out with counselors and friends. We also have an on campus bank where you can get spending money from your account (which is managed by your parents).
What are the bathrooms like?: The bathrooms were recently renovated. They are shared by everyone on the hall, which is about 30 people of the same gender. There are about 6 sinks and 6 shower stalls in each bathroom, so there are plenty for everyone to share.
How do I do my laundry?: For $25 per week you may use the JKCP Laundry Service and your laundry will be done for you. As laundry service is done on Tuesdays this is ideal for those staying for 2 or more weeks.
Do I have to clean my room?: You are responsible for keeping your private space neat, clean, and presentable. Hallways and bathrooms are cleaned daily by the colleges.
What is supervision in the dorms like?: Residential Advisors (RAs) live in the dorms near the students. The RAs are typically between the ages of 20 and 25. There is a 10 to 1 student to staff ratio. All RAs go through extensive FBI background checks and fingerprinting every year.
What time do we go to sleep?: As long as you are in your rooms and being quiet, we do not enforce a bedtime. However, curfew to be on your floor is 10pm and 10:30pm is curfew to be in your room.

When should I submit my application?: All of our classes and programs have limited space availability, so you’ll want to apply as soon as possible. Classes have rolling admissions, the earlier you apply, the better your chances of getting the classes you want most.
How do I make payments?: We require a deposit and app. fee within 7 days of your confirmation to secure your spot. Your balance may be paid via cash, check, wire transfer or credit card (for an additional fee). Charges will appear on your credit card statement as "JKST, Inc."
How do I pay by check?: Checks may be made payable to Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs. We respectfully ask that you send your balance in on time and address to: College Credit, Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs, 610 S. Henderson Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406, USA.
How much spending money should students bring to camp?: The amount of spending money you bring is at your discretion. However, we suggest bringing approximately $100–$125 per week for laundry, off-campus meals, snacks and personal expenses and should be in the form of cash, debit or check card.

Is Villanova University safe?: Villanova University is very safe. It is a small and self-contained suburban campus with 24/7 on campus security. All dorms and most classroom buildings have key card access only.
How are the weekend trips supervised?: Trips are always well-supervised. The level of supervision varies based on your age and the locations of the trips (e.g. a local movie theater vs. New York City or Washington, D.C.). You are allowed to walk in groups of three or more in designated areas.
Do you offer travel insurance?: Yes, students living outside of the U.S. may purchase insurance through AVI by contacting them directly.
Who are the residential advisors?: The residential advisors are between the ages of 20-25 and come from all over the world. The directors are typically older and have graduated from college. They all go through extensive FBI background checks and finger printing checks every year.
What is the staff to student ratio?: There is approximately 1 residential advisor for every 10 students.

What should I bring to camp?: In your pre-summer information packet you will receive a complete packing list. Please leave any valuable personal items at home.
How much free time do we have?: Every weekday you will have free time after lunch. If you finish eating early, you have the remaining time to hang out with friends, go to your dorm room, or relax. You can also use the afternoon activity as free time from 4:15pm to about 5:15pm.
What can you do during your free time?: Enjoy optional afternoon activities and sports. You can also take this time to hang out in your dorms, call home, or just relax.
What is the food like?: The food is typical of a college cafeteria. You are given the freedom to make your own choices. Salad, fruit, vegetables, sandwich deli bar and different hot entrees accompany each lunch and dinner.
What if I have a food allergy?: If you have any special dietary needs or allergies, please contact us prior to your arrival.
How will I get to and from campus?: You can arrive by car or we offer transportation to and from Philadelphia International Airport or Philly's 30th Street Amtrak Train Station. If you are flying in to or out of another airport we recommend professional driver Robert Folz 610.636.4530.
What should I do if I experience a problem while away from home?: While cell phone use is allowed, please notify the director immediately instead of calling home with any problem that arises. Those who use this direct communication get their problem resolved in the quickest and most professional manner.
What happens if I am sick or injured?: A doctor, nurse practitioner, and trainer are always on call. There is a hospital within five minutes of campus. If you are not feeling well, please tell your instructor or residential advisor immediately.
What is your policy on smoking and substance abuse?: We have a zero tolerance policy for the possession and/or use of alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vapor devices, weapons, and drugs. Use or possession will result in immediate expulsion and any costs associated are at your expense.
