Essential Experience for Tomorrow’s Leaders
Our program will introduce you to the dynamic field of international relations and equip you with the critical skills needed for future global leadership. We have designed a creative multi-faceted approach that blends world events and history with leadership and current issues. This method will provide you with a handy framework for exploring international relations and the political scene on an advanced level.
Realistic UN Simulations
You and your fellow Model UN delegates will represent participating countries in several Model UN simulations where you debate the most urgent issues facing our world today. To prepare for the sessions, you’ll explore the current political situation, voting patterns, leadership positions and alliances of the country you are representing. Never participated in a Model UN? Don’t worry. The program is structured to accommodate new students eager to dive into international affairs, as well as experienced students who want to polish their Model UN skills.
An Unforgettable Summer Experience
During the four-week session, workshops and simulations will be supplemented by guest speakers, including international dignitaries, members of foreign embassies, and authorities in international studies and diplomacy. Debate, public speaking, and research workshops will help you develop the skills you need to be an effective diplomat. Tutorials will ensure that you feel comfortable in the kinds of situations you might encounter as a global leader. In addition, you will enjoy field trips to the United Nations in New York City and Embassy Row in Washington, D.C., as well as activities and social life on and around the Penn campus and Philadelphia.
Advisors From Collegiate Model UN Teams
The academic program will be staffed by undergraduate and graduate students who are experienced members of Model UN teams. Committed to making your experience intellectually rewarding and socially enjoyable, they will be key resources for your successful preparation and participation.
