Come work with the award-winning film and video professionals at Philadelphia’s state-of-the-art public broadcasting station for a complete script-to-screen experience. Our intensive three-week program will let you explore all facets of film production - including scriptwriting, scouting locations in Philadelphia, and getting behind the camera to direct and edit your film.
All of our camps and programs feature small class sizes and low camper-to-counselor ratios. Room is limited and each year more people apply than we can accommodate. Please apply online today to reserve your space.
You’ll start with an introduction to video-craft basics, including modern film theory and media literacy. Weeks two and three will be devoted to honing your creative voice as a filmmaker, as you use professional video equipment to develop and produce your own short production. The program will culminate in a film festival to showcase your work. The summer’s finest films may be broadcast on WHYY to its Philadelphia viewers.
These videos were written, filmed, acted and produced by our 2007 WHYY Film Academy students. Both have been featured on the WHYY Learning Lab website homepage.
