Exploration: Typical Day


Exploration is designed to let students do what they enjoy most. Days start off with the student’s choice of classes. Depending on how you put together your schedule, you can study up to four different subjects during morning classes throughout the session. Afternoons combine fast-paced Discovery Workshops with activities and sports. Every evening features entertaining activities such as on-campus parties, events and off-campus trips.

Morning Program

7:45 — Residential Student Wake-up. You’ll have your own single or double room on campus (limited double rooms available). Counselors stay on the same floor with their assigned groups.

8:15 — Morning Assembly. Residential campers and staff get together for announcements.

8:30 — Breakfast. Meals are served cafeteria-style in the dining center. Choices include fresh juices, assorted breads, bagels and croissants, hot oatmeal and cereal bar, waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs and omelets, and seasonal fruits.

8:45 — Day Campers Arrive. Day campers check in at the dining center.

9:00 — Morning Classes. Campers follow their personal schedules of Exploration Workshops.

Noon — Lunch. Menu selections include salad bar, assorted sandwiches and wraps, Philly steak or chicken sandwiches, ballpark hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers, grilled chicken Caesar salad, assorted pizzas and stromboli selections, seasonal fruits and dessert.

Afternoon Program

1:00 — Discovery Workshops. You choose these classes on a weekly basis while you’re here. Click here for a comprehensive list: Discovery Workshops

2:30 — First Afternoon Activities Period. You sign up the previous day for sports and recreation, for example, basketball, Internet, or "hang time."

4:00 — Day Campers Depart. Day campers have the option of extending their day to 5:30 p.m. or through dinner and the evening program (additional cost).

4:00 — Second Afternoon Activities Period. Sports, off-campus trips, recreation and relaxation.

Evening Program

5:15 — Evening Forum. We get together before dinner to update you on the evening’s schedule.

5:30 — Dinner. Choose from soup-and-salad bar, assorted breads and rolls, pastas, lasagna, stir-fry, turkey scaloppini, BBQ chicken, fresh fish of the day, steamed vegetables, seasonal fruits and dessert.

Evening Activities

Every evening you’ll enjoy organized activities, both on and off campus. Schedules change depending on what’s available, but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Weekend Trips

Sunday Is Your Day

If you need to sleep in, Sunday is the day to do it. Have brunch, then take a trip to the swim club, a baseball game, a museum or other Philadelphia attractions.
