“There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no and WOW!” At JKCP this summer, we are aiming for “WOW!” This course lets you be the designer and choose your own style. Are you Retro or Rockstar? Postmodern or Pulp? Dada or Deco? While only you can decide which approach suits you best, we will encourage you to try your hand at several different methods and certainly make some suggestions along the way. Throughout this course, you will study some of the world’s most influential graphic artists and use their work to inspire creative, custom t-shirt designs. Employing a variety of different techniques, you will create templates that allow you to reproduce your work ad infinitum. Before we can do this, though, we'll explore color, layout, pattern, shape identity, proportional relationships and, of course, negative space. We will experiment with special design elements like perspective, gradients, shimmers, to name a few. We know you will be astonished by your results and, best of all, you’ll be able to wear your designs and show them off to all your friends.
