When Emily’s parents agreed to send her off to camp this year, she looked around at other summer camp programs, only to quickly come to the decision to return to Krinsky Fitness. For her, nothing beats the friends, food, and fitness classes offered at Krinsky Fitness. “It’s like a summer camp but up a level,” she says. “If the other camps were like Renaissance Hotels, Fitness would be a Hilton.”

Being an international student was not a worry for Emily, who resides in England. “All of the Americans are really nice to you, and they think you’re really interesting,” she says. She enjoys sharing her culture and won’t hesitate to tell you how amazing the tea is in England or laugh at the differences between American and English word pronunciation. Two of the fitness counselors also come from England, making it easy for her to feel at home.
For Emily, sharing her experience with new friends is one of the best parts of camp. “I’ve met girls from Brazil, France and the United States; we’re all teenage girls and pretty much the same.” She has made plans with many of the girls to meet up after the end of the session.
Of course, she loves the fitness and nutrition classes and the effects she’s felt in her body. “You learn fun ways of doing fitness,” she says, “so you don’t really feel like you’re doing it too much, but when you come home you feel a lot better and so much more fit.”
Her favorite fitness class is Bootcamp, which she finds enjoyable because of the bursts of intensity. The class is hard but also builds confidence. She also likes learning moves she can take home. In the class, “No Props no Problem,” she learned exercises to do when you don’t have equipment.
She claims breakfast is hands-down the best meal of the day. “I usually just have toast and cereal, but here we have really good pancakes and scrambled eggs which I usually can’t be bothered to make at home. It is great because you can eat a lot, work it off, and still be hungry by lunch.”
When asked her favorite evening activity, she doesn’t hesitate, replying with a huge grin, “shopping.” At the King of Prussia mall, she can pick up clothes and gifts from stores they don’t have in England.
We hope she left room in her suitcase and that we will see Emily again next year!
