Punch Maleka, one of our tennis pros here at the Julian Krinsky School of Tennis, is heading to the U.S. Open National Playoffs Men’s Championship! This is a chance for Punch to win a spot in the 2010 U.S. Open Tournament! He will compete against 15 others in a single elimination draw for a wild card entry into the Grand Slam tournament.

Punch began playing tennis at the age of 9 years old. It was only 10 years later that he became a pro, at the age of 19. “All my life it’s been my dream,” says Punch. “It’s nice to be able to compete on this level. The fact that I lost the opportunity years ago was frustrating, because of an injury that I had. I grew up beating some of the guys playing right now. So, I know I can compete with these guys. Now, I must use this opportunity that I have.”
His journey to the U.S. Open will begin on July 22nd-25th in Atlanta, GA at the Atlanta Athletic Club (during the Olympus U.S. Open Series Atlanta Tennis Championships).
We are so proud of Punch! Join us in wishing him the best of luck!
