On August 16th, the 2009 JCC Maccabi Games will begin in Westchester County, NY, and this year JKCP is proud to announce that an alumni of the Julian Krinsky School of Golf, Daniel Abbey, will be competing. Daniel, a student with JKCP in both 2007 and 2008, qualified for the world games with Team Canada last year but was unable to attend in Israel. This year Daniel was called upon to compete once again in the games and will be making the trip to New York in August. The JCC Maccabi Games are an Olympic style sports event held each summer in North America. The games themselves have over 5,000 Jewish teens participating, making it the largest organized sports program for Jewish teenagers in the world. The games work to promote community involvement, teamwork, and pride in being Jewish. In an email in late June, Daniel contacted JKCP saying, “thanks to your camp and the amazing staff that you have there, I not only had the best summers of my life, but I also improved my golf game to a level I didn’t think possible!”. JKCP would like to congratulate Daniel on his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck in his upcoming endeavors.
