Do you like Frank Sinatra? After working on a mini-musical, "Ol' Blue Eyes is Back: The Life of Frank Sinatra," campers at the Julian Krinsky Creative and Performing Arts Camp held at the Shipley Middle School last week like him too.
Last Friday, about 60 children ages 8-14, presented the 45-minute tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes.
Campers from as far away as Virginia and New York as well as from the area worked on the show for two weeks before presenting it to a full house at the Shipley Middie School auditorium.
Including both original recordings as well as cast renditions of such songs as "Come Fly with Me," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "New York, New York and "High Hopes," the show featured the various talents of the campers.
The Krinsky camp offers different "majors" for the kids to concentrate on including drama, dance and music.
"The show is a unique opportunity to display the campers' visual art skills developed through their choice of fine arts, theater, dance and music majors in addition to elective workshops," said Carole Blum, the program's day director.
On-stage talents were not the only things showcased. Campers in the visual arts area drew the unique Sinatra-related pictures on the covers of the programs.
The students in the camp's final session are now working on the last show for the summer, "Jersey Boys and Girls: The Life of the Four Seasons," featuring songs by rock-and-roll hall-of-famers. It will be presented Friday, Aug. 5.
Julian Krinsky Camps and Programs is headquartered in King of Prussia. For more information about the next show, call Tina Krinsky at 610-265-9401.
Marshall Fleming will be a Radnor High School junior. He is a summer intern at The Suburban and Wayne Times.
